Sykes Pumps in the Middle East

Sykes Pumps have been a household name in the Middle East when it comes to pump hire and dewatering for over 40 years. The company recognised the great potential of the region for business in the early seventies, when construction and modernisation started taking off across the GCC.

The first Sykes venture in the Middle East was started in 1976 in the UAE, where Sykes Pumps partnered with top local contractor Khansaheb Civil Engineering L.L.C. The first project the company worked on was the Shindegah Tunnel Crossing of the Dubai Creek. A depot was set up in the industrial region in neighbouring emirate Sharjah, just outside of Dubai.

Specialising in tailored dewatering solutions for the harsh conditions of construction sites in the region, the company was immediately successful and in the same year Sykes branches were opened in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. A mere two years later a third UAE depot was opened in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in order to service the centre and south of the country.

Our success in the UAE has driven our expansion to other countries in the region over the years. Sykes Pumps now has distributors in six key countries in the GCC, which offer our full range of pumps for hire and sales, as well as specialised dewatering solutions.
